FOURTH OF JULY - Small Town Style

We enjoyed the 4th of July parade small town style again this year.
Two main differences we noticed from last year were:
the fire trucks sprayed water which cooled off the spectators and
free lunch was offered by two different organizations.
Enjoy the show!

Happy Fourth of July!!

SUMMER AROUND THE HOMESTEAD

Here is a small sample of what summer looks like around the homestead.
We call this mountain "Smiley" Horn Peak - altitude 13,450 feet.

I do not know all the names of the wildflowers,
but they are pretty and plentiful.
A fun Sunday afternoon activity!
Stay tuned for more updates from the homestead!

LOVE MY GRANDCHILDREN

We love visiting with the grandchildren!
They change so much in between visits.
Our granddaughter recently turned three years old
and we wanted to celebrate with them.

We had the joy of watching both of the grandchildren
during their gymnastics class.

We had fun in the backyard!

We had fun at the beach!!

We had fun celebrating a birthday!!!

Our daughter-in-law has quite a green thumb
as evidenced by the backyard garden.

There are other unique features in the backyard.
One person's trash is another person's treasure!
Old bed frames can become a beautiful trellis.

A fun time was had by all!

NUTRITION INSPIRATION

After watching some videos and reading about healthy foods
I decided to try some different things.
One of the things I tried was pickled carrots.
I also made some sauerkraut.
During a recent trip to a bulk food store
I purchased a variety of seeds and some red lentils.
Red lentils, hemp seeds, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds
I made 'seed pudding' with all the different seeds.
With our fresh garden zucchini, I made spaghetti and
served it with red lentils.
Yummy!!

CLEARWATER BEACH

Even though we live in Florida we do not visit the beach very often.
Early one Friday morning I decided to go for a walk on the beach!

We will have to make it to the beach more often.
It is a relaxing and a great way to start the day.
