Taste of Country

We walked downtown Saturday, paid the city utility bill & spent the morning at the Taste of Country festival.  We weren't sure what to expect or how long we would stay.
It ended up being a fun way to spend a Saturday morning!

Look to the left!  We noticed a heavy police presence.  Not sure why there were so many uniformed officers.
 Kids Country!

Some blogger I turned out to be!
We spent about an hour listening to the band "Moonshine" at the Electrolux (one of the sponsors) stage.  I was sure I had taken a picture of the group.  Once we got home & I downloaded the pictures I realized I had not taken any pictures of "Moonshine."  The hubby likes country music, so he was willing to sit in the sun & enjoy the music.
The quilt shop had moved downtown, so we stopped in & looked around.
They were still settling in so all the stock was not out yet.
I plan to go back in July & get one of the Row by Row Experience quilt blocks.

Just before we arrived back at the apartment we saw the neighborhood chickens.
Chickens under the car!

A couple of weeks ago we went to Louisville, KY to visit the hubby's dad's 2nd wife, Judy.
We had not seen her for a couple of years.  Since we moved to FL it is not as convenient to fit in a visit.  We are so much closer to her this summer so it worked out to visit her.
On the return trip when we stopped for gas I saw this unusual sight.
How long has it been since you have seen one of these?

A Nice Touch of Color

Here is our balcony at the apartment.
The petunias add "a nice touch of color" to the space.
I even got creative with a spare flower pot & a piece of wood!!

My Summer Home

I have joined the hubby for the summer in Springfield, TN.
While driving through the area I realized how much I missed the fields of green.
I even missed the corn fields!!

We explored on foot over the weekend.
Here are some of the highlights of our morning walk.
It's hard to tell in the picture, but this is a funeral home with sample grave markers lined up in the parking lot.  Hubby & I had not seen such a thing before.

The Courthouse

Interesting painting on the side of this building.

After our walk we drove to the local farmer's market.  We were disappointed at the number of vendors - only six!  We did purchase some grass fed beef burgers from a local farm - Gourmet Pasture Beef.  We'll go back in a few weeks to see if there are more produce vendors.  It is still a little early in the growing season.
We saw this sign downtown, but didn't check out the Greenway until Sunday afternoon.  After a slight rain delay we started at Garner Street Park & enjoyed a great walk along the paved scenic trail.  We walked 3 miles to Travis Price Park & then walked back to our starting point.  Great way to spend a Sunday afternoon!!
