HAPPY SIXTH BIRTHDAY

Mother Nature celebrated our grandson's birthday with snow.

While the boys had been at the Cubs baseball game a couple of days before
our granddaughter helped decorate her brother's birthday card and cake.

Every year my son does a year-in-review interview with my grandson.
It is recorded on tape for posterity.
There are questions such as: favorite activity, what does mom say often to you,
what do you want to be when you grow up, etc.

Our grandson's youtube handle is 'young swordmaker'
because he likes to make swords.
The first birthday present he opened was . .
Our son has a plan to embellish the back of the jean jacket
with "Young Swordmaker" and a sword logo.
The look would be similar to a motorcycle jacket embellishment.

Our grandson picked hot dogs for his birthday dinner.
He ate FOUR, bun and condiments included!!
After dinner we celebrated with cake and ice cream.
A special sword was provided to the young swordmaker
for cutting the cake.

Then it was time for presents!
Besides the Cubs t-shirt (and Cubs game ticket) from us,
there were presents from mom and dad.

Two videos to complete our April visit to Chicago.

We are looking forward to returning to Chicago
in June for our granddaughter's birthday.

SPRING IN THE WINDY CITY

You never know what kind of weather you will have during springtime in the Windy City.
When we visited in November we experienced the first snow of the season.
On this visit it snowed on our grandson's birthday!!

Every day of our visit was cold with either snow or rain.
However, the kids and grandchildren warmed our hearts!
Each time we visit we bring a small gift for each of the grandchildren.
Our grandson commonly gets a tool to add to his tool bag.
This visit he received a small level.
I was not sure what to give our granddaughter,
but I had a small pom pom in our gift collection so decided to give her that.
She used her creative talent to to find many uses for the pom pom.

 It became hair for Strawberry!
Note the extreme talent displayed in the drawing of the facial features.
That is all mine!!
Our granddaughter is not camera shy!

The pom pom also became a feather duster.
The house was spotless when she finished dusting.
Cheerleader!!
On Saturday we all traveled by bus and train to the downtown loop.
The girls exited the train first and
went to the Children's Library.

Pink Princess

Firegirl

Spinner

Unicorn & Scorpion craft
There were so many activities for the children!!
I would not want to be the one cleaning up at the end of the day though.

The boys continued on the train to the stop for Wrigley Field.
They had tickets for the afternoon Cub's game!
Our grandson is a big Rizzo fan.

The seats were excellent, but the weather was not.
The wind was blowing right in their faces,
so they only stayed for one inning.
Before they came home they had lunch downtown and
watched some of the game on the restaurant TV.

Stayed tuned for the next post . . .
                    the 6th Birthday celebration!
