Vacation - Downtown Denver (part 2)

After spending the night at the Denver Marriott City Center we woke up to a drizzly morning.
Here is the view from our room.

Providentially there was a Corner Bakery right next door,
so we didn't have to go far for breakfast.

There were a few downtown sights that we had missed the previous evening so we took more pictures in the morning before we met with our son for lunch.

Thirty years ago when we were in Colorado we ate at Casa Bonita.
It was a chain of restaurants that featured a multi-story, Mexican-themed atmosphere which included a 30-foot-tall waterfall, cliff divers, fire jugglers, strolling mariachi bands, a pirate cave, magicians, puppet shows, skee-ball machines, etc.
The only location still open is this one in Lakewood, CO.

After lunch at Chipolte with our son we picked up his dog and
ventured to the doggie park then on to Red Rocks.

There is an amphitheater where many big name groups have played.
Concerts for 2015 include the following:
Alan Jackson, Chris Tomlin,
The Smashing Pumpkins & Marilyn Manson,
and Tim McGraw.

We took a quick drive through the Coors campus as we headed out of town.

Next up Fairplay, CO!

Visit with my Niece

Intermission from our vacation photos . . .

Recently my niece & her family traveled from IN to FL for a visit.
That is quite a trek with four young children!!
I'm glad they took the time to visit.
They were last here after Christmas, so it was great to see them again.
I didn't take pictures until the end of their visit,
so not all the kids were happy campers.

Vacation - Downtown Denver

We really had a great time celebrating the 4th of July with family!!
But all good things must end, so on to Denver we flew.
We needed some way to get around town & on to our next destination besides these ...
 So we did this ...

Our youngest son had moved to the Denver area last fall and
we had lunch with him at a local bar dive before checking in to our hotel in downtown Denver.
The hotel was a fancy place a block away from the famed "16th Street Mall."
The evening started out fine so we went exploring.

As in any big city we noticed the homeless people and their dogs.

Adult size three wheelers were a big hit!!

We had dinner at the "modmarket" on the 16th St Mall.

Other downtown sights . .  .   .    .     .
State Capital
Civic Center Park

Bradley flew in from Chicago to visit his cousins.

Performing Arts Complex

Celebrating July 4th

We celebrated July 4th with the hubby's sister, her husband & his family in Oklahoma City.
It had been a few years since we had seen them.
We had a really great day with them &
were richly entertained with all of their musical talent.
Nephew Justin, brother Frankie, son Dustin, & Tommy

Betsy, daughter Angie, daughter-in-law Chelsea, sister-in-law Bliss
Granddaughter Ivy
Granddog Rey Rey

Of course besides the entertainment there was a little bit of food.
I just took pictures of the dessert!
There's nothing on earth more precious than family!!

Grandchildren - God's Blesssings

I'm reminded anew of God's blessings!!
We recently visited our two beautiful grandchildren and
celebrated our granddaughter's one year birthday.
We brought Quackles as a surprise for our granddaughter
since she is now big enough to ride him.
But our grandson still loves to ride Quackles and
didn't really want to share with his sister.
Our granddaughter is not too interested in walking yet.
She gets around fast by doing the "3-legged" crawl
which leaves one hand free to carry something.
She loves playing with the doll that her mom made for her.

As always our grandson sings & plays music.

Story time with grandpa.

The weather cooperated & we had play time at the park.

Happy Birthday!!

Until next time!!
